BJU

My Hubster decided a while back that he wanted to begin consistently teaching the kids about faith and Jesus in some sort of organized fashion. We talked, prayed about it and just waited on Him...

Fortunately it didn't take that long for us to catch on ;) About two weeks after, we happened to stumble on this very topic with our pastor and his wife. They have 4 children, their two middle children about the age of Lauren and Jake. Anyway, Mo began talking about this program (Bob Jones University Bible curriculum) he uses to disciple his children and brought it out for us to check out. We came home, researched it and ordered it on the spot. It was exactly what we were looking for.

It's great because it comes with student workbooks, a teacher guide and LOTS of large posters to discuss (with much of the teaching material on the back so you don't have to look at the teaching guide constantly). It also teaches a new Bible verse every week (I think). The plan goes like this: do some worship (we have a few children's worship CD's we alternate between) which also lets some of the wiggles out, then some prayer, teaching/questions and then an ending prayer. It's a perfect resource for quality time with daddy every night as well as teaching our kiddos about our Lord.

A couple things; there are many different stages (we chose the PreK and Kindergarten teaching material) and they do a great job of teaching complex topics in a way little ones can understand. The entire lesson takes about 15-20 minutes to complete, which is important when you have kids with the attention spans of gnats ;) Lastly, we can lounge in our jammies, relax and teach/learn without it being too 'schooly'. Perfect solution. If you're interested or have any questions, please let me know ;)
