Part 3 of San Diego vacay; Pool day!

After two very busy days at the beach and zoo, we spent the final day just relaxing by the pool. To the kids, this was the highlight of the trip; getting to spend allll day at the pool, playing with friends, swimming and doing cannon balls :)

 

(Splashing your parents and aunts/uncles, aka best friends parents, was a highlight as well, lol!)

 

 

After literally hours and hours there, we ended our trip with a trek to a downtown Gelato store, where we were able to choose from this amazing assortment of deliciousness:

I know!

 

And yes, those are our kids in jammies. Truth be told, it pained me a little to take them out in a nice San Diego restaurant like that but Justin insisted it was vacation and I live a little and I thought, why the heck not!?! So we did :)

 

It was an amazing vacation. Not relaxing in the least, but then again, we had 5 kids under 6 near the water most of the time! Still, it was a trip we won't soon forget! Thanks MacDonald clan for another fun vacation with us!

Part 2 of San Diego Vacay; Zoo day!

 

After the beach yesterday, we headed to the San Diego Zoo! Now, anyone that knows me knows I HATE the zoo. I despise the animals being caged; I vividly remember them pacing back and forth, back and forth when I went to the zoo as a child. However, Megan has never been and I felt like a neglectful parent for not taking her sooner (again, another first world problem of being an American mama; sigh). Fortunately, the exhibits are much, much larger and I was actually able to enjoy myself this time (sorta kinda). 

 

We saw tons of animals, pet a few, rode on lots of cool things (the sky cart and double decker bus),  and took lots and lots of pictures :)

That evening, Justin surprised us by taking our family to Benihana

 

where the kids had a blast watching our chef cook our food before their very eyes!

 

And after a fun, long day and a nice meal, it was lights out!

Part 1 of San Deigo Vacay; Beach Day!

For the past four years (2010, 2011, and 2012), our friends the MacDonalds and our family plan a summer family vacation. This year we went to San Diego, where we stayed for three days checking out the sights and refereeing our five under 6 :) 

 

The first day we spent allllll day at the beach. (Side note: to prevent this post from becoming 15 pages long, I split it up into three days). Between making sandcastles, boogie boarding, burying your siblings, and swimming, we had a fun filled day!

We did LOTS of playing beach side and by 7pm, they were wiped out. We headed back to our hotel for a quick bite to eat (and an even quicker shower!) and got some sleep before our next adventure the following day. Stay tuned!
