Third 5k

I ran another 5k this past Sunday at the Run Through Redlands. Definitely a more difficut run than I've competed in before, as it had some inclines and it was h-o-t! Plus, there were tons of people walking, which made it difficult to get a good pace going as I had to weave in and out of people.

Luckily, the Hubster came with me and ran along side of me up until the end. Then he took off and left my slow be-hind trailing him. He didn't officially sign up for the race, so we don't know his time or placement, but here's mine for future record:

Women: 304 out of 1277
F 25-29: 36 out of 103
Finish: 32:55

Overall, I'm pleased. I finished the thing, wasn't last, and never allowed myself to walk. Plus, I beat my last 2 times by almost 45 seconds!

The Hubster and I are planning to run another 5k the beginning of May, so that should be fun. Heh... I said "fun" when describing running. Never in a million years did I think I would say that...

You know you sing the "clean up" song

far too much when you're nursing this stud muffin:

and suddenly this BusyBody:

starts singing "milk away, milk away, time (to put the) milk away".

Hahaha! Apparently she was tired of seeing momma's boobs.... you and me both kiddo, you and me both!

Top 10 about my 10 month old

Is my Porkchop really 10 months old now?!? Wow...

1) Your love of food. Doesn't matter if it's spinach or blueberry muffins, you love to eat. This appetite, sweet boy, you most certainly got from your momma. And if we don't feed you fast enough, you give this food smeared angry face:

Again, like you momma... not the food smeared face, just the impatience :)

2) Within the past week, you have fallen head over heels in love with Tessa. The minute you see this furry face,

you squeal in delight.

3) While you still prefer your old standby "inchworm" move, you are crawling! As in, one-knee-in-front of-the-other crawling! So far you've crawled about 6 steps. But then you get lazy opt for the faster inchworm version to get you where you need to go.

4) We are teaching you to wave. You think it's hysterical to see your parents get so excited when you begin to move your arms even the slightest inch. You laugh and laugh and laugh but you still haven't waved. I think you like to see us act like a bunch of fools.

5) You still think the swing is the best invention ever. Well, besides your fingers :)

6) You loooove to read. You'll sit on my lap for hours, taking it all in. Reading to you during our bedtime routine is one of my favorite times with you.

7) You are actually interested in kids your own age and size now. Your cousins MaKenna and Conor came over a few weeks ago and you really enjoyed having someone to crawl inchworm around with.

8) I no longer need to go to my Fitness Bootcamp class because I get all of my exercise during your diaper changes. You are like an octopus, which more hands and feet than I know what to do with. You flail them about, making it darn near impossible to give you clean buns.

9) Speaking of buns, I heart your dimples. I had this portrait taken at Sears last month, and while one day I know you'll hate for posting this, I couldn't resist. I just wish it was as acceptable for mommy to have dimples in her butt too.

10) You are now officially cruising. You have no idea how to get down though, and this becomes quite a challenge when I'm in the middle of potty training your sister.

Two months to go, Moosey Man, before I have another toddler. What in the world am I in for with two???

Best Friends and more Laurenisms

We officially said goodbye to Lauren's pacifier, or Best Friend as we lovingly referred to it as. It has taken us 4 days to get here. Four grueling days filled with tears, angst, tantrums, and little sleep for everyone in the house. Why you ask?? Because for the first 2 days, she screamed during nap and bedtime, keeping Moosey Man up with her. Whew, those were some rough days. I was looking into nearby orphanages.

But the past 2 days have been 100% better. In fact, Miss Piddle Pot proudly announces to anyone that will listen that she gave her "bes fwiends to babies" and that the babies are "happy now". This was the Hubsters idea to give 'em to the babies, and we went with it. We told Lauren that she was a big girl now and that only babies need BF's. So we found a box and searched the house high and low, looking for BF's to give the babies. She would find one and happily toss it in the box and then search some more. When she was satisfied that all the BF's were gone, she and daddy taped the box up and went to the mailbox where they "mailed them to the babies". That was the last time she has had one, 5 days ago.

It's an end of an era. No more BF's. I never thought I'd be able to say that but I am so glad I am :)

As for the Laurenisms, here goes...

WARNING though: TMI, esp. if your eating. And if you're eating, stop. Really, stop. Okay, I warned ya:

Yesterday Lauren went to the bathroom with me. She's fascinated with watching us pee, so we ususally take her in with us and expose her to potty training in the process. So I'm sittin' on the pot and this is what took place:

Lauren: "Mommy pooped".
Mommy: "Yep. How'd you know?"
Lauren: "Is stinky in here"

Greaaat. Moments later:

Lauren: "Plant is stinky" (there is a fake plant sitting behind the toilet).
Mommy: "Why is the plant stinky?"
Lauren: "Mommy pooped".

Even better, thanks Lauren.

So I finish up, carry her in my arms and we're walking out of the bathroom. She leans around pats my back and says

"Yay Mommy, goo' job!"

Ha! Even adults gets praise when they poop in this house.

Favor please?

Remember my recent post about Lauren's growth chart I made? Well, the creating bug has struck again and I'm gathering ideas on what to make for Jacob's chart. Lauren's was super easy to come up with, because she loves Ladybugs and I call her "bug", short for stink love bug.

But I'm just not sure what boys like. I know everyone is different, but I was just hoping to get a consensus of what most boys like. If you had to choose, based on your son’s childhood preference (or of a young boy you know), what would your choice be?

Airplanes
Sailboats
Trains
Dinosaurs
Trucks and Bulldozers

If you wouldn't mind answering in the poll to the right, I would really appreciate it (you can do so annonymously if you prefer)! And so would Moosey Man!

Oh, and I'll post the final product once it's completed in a couple weeks! Thanks again :)

Easter morning...

looked like this at the Brown home:

Lauren woke up knowing that the "Eas-tir Bun-ny" had come and that "tweats" and eggs were awaiting her.

So she sat her little buns down and proceeded to see what she got.

First outta the basket was this bunny purse, which was a huge hit,

followed by a new book,

a squirmy wormy,

some Peeps-shaped bubbles and a "grow your own bunny in water" thingy (yes, that's the technical term for it),

and a fairy skirt, which had to be put on that very second. And being the little fashionista that she is, it stayed on the rest of morning. That, my friends, made for some really classy Easter pics.

After putting on her "wed faiwwy" skirt, she discovered this:

and it immediately found it's way to her mouth:

But OMGosh was she is Heaven! She told her daddy over and over again that she was eating "chocate ears". Ha!

Notice the tint around her lips after devouring enough chocolate to put Willy Wonka to shame.

After gnawing on bunny's ears, she demanded she carry the remaining portion of it's carcass around... ya know, just in case her non-mobile little bro suddenly got up and stole it right outta her hands.

Jacob, meanwhile, was inspecting his loot. At first he was a bit embarrassed that a boy of his caliber received a stuffed bunny... with pink ears, no less:

But he was gracious and smiled, ensuring the Easter Bunny would return again next year.

He started demolishing disassembling his basket,

by checking out his Pooh Easter book,

and sidewalk chalk,

before discovering that the eggs in his basket contained edible things! He was quite pleased that the EB remembered his love of Puffs and Kix :)

As he's grubbin' on his delicacies, his chubby little fingers start fondling the Easter grass. He tasted the strands first,

before flinging it all over.

Apparently, it looked better on the carpet than it did in the basket. That was fun to cleanup.

And after checking out each others baskets and breaking for a smooch break,

Lauren searched for the eggs that the EB "hide-ed"

Soon the eggs were all found and the basket overflowing,

so the Hubster and I got the kids dressed and headed to Grammy and Grumpy's house. There we feasted on Easter goodies and watched as Miss BusyBody found all the eggs the EB left in their backyard.

Such a fun day... Lauren's sugar rush and Jacob's grass-eating included ;)
