Third 5k

I ran another 5k this past Sunday at the Run Through Redlands. Definitely a more difficut run than I've competed in before, as it had some inclines and it was h-o-t! Plus, there were tons of people walking, which made it difficult to get a good pace going as I had to weave in and out of people.

Luckily, the Hubster came with me and ran along side of me up until the end. Then he took off and left my slow be-hind trailing him. He didn't officially sign up for the race, so we don't know his time or placement, but here's mine for future record:

Women: 304 out of 1277
F 25-29: 36 out of 103
Finish: 32:55

Overall, I'm pleased. I finished the thing, wasn't last, and never allowed myself to walk. Plus, I beat my last 2 times by almost 45 seconds!

The Hubster and I are planning to run another 5k the beginning of May, so that should be fun. Heh... I said "fun" when describing running. Never in a million years did I think I would say that...

Second 5K

Still had the same three goals:

1) That I would finish

2) That I would run the entire thing

3) That I wouldn't be last.

and I did all three. However halfway through the first mile, my right hip began to hurt. By the second mile, I was in alot of pain. And by the 2 1/2 mile mark, I was limp-running, because of my dumb second promise. By the end of the 5k, I seriously felt like I was in my seventies, complaining of hip pain and contemplating a cane.

Nonetheless, I finished the darn thing. My last time was 33:17 and this one was 33:31Not really happy about that but I'll attribute it to the geriatric-impersonating hip of mine.

I have another 5k this Sunday that both the Hubster and I will be running. Here's to hoping my time improves and that my hip doesn't come out of it's socket.

5k Numero Uno

I did it! I completed the 5k I stupidly signed up for. Granted, I think I need a double knee replacement and a new set of hips, but I completed the dang thang!

In all honesty, I was sore the next day but ultimately pretty proud of myself. The morning of the race, as I sat hunkered over the Porcelain God all nauseous from anticipation and uncertainty, I promised myself three things... nothing more, nothing less:

1) That I would finish

2) That I would run the entire thing

3) That I wouldn't be last.

And I kept all three promises. I took 28th place (out of 65) and finished in 33:17. Not spectacular, but certainly better than I expected, esp. when I just started "training" a couple months ago.

Anyways, Judith and I are signed up for another 5K next month, which gives me plenty of time to get into the 20 min's. Ha, I think ll this running is making me delusional!!!!

WoooHoo!

This will be a super quick post because it's 9 pm and the Hubster is patiently waiting for "snugga" time (snuggle times as Miss Fancy Pants calls it).

Anyways, while I'm at bootcamp tonight, we had to run a mile 3 times. We had to run 3 miles. So I did and came in 3rd place behind 2 ultra fast marathon runners. But the great news is this: my best time for a mile was 9:31 and the worst was 9:41. Not too shabby for a girl who never ran before... except for the occasional ice cream truck.

But it gets better...

On the way home my mom calls and says Lauren has a surprise waiting for me. No other details. So I walk in the door and there's Justin, beaming. He leads me in the bathroom, lifts up Lauren's potty chair and exclaims "she went poopy in the potty!" Sure enough, she did! She was so proud of herself... and so am I.

Never in a million years did I think I'd be this excited over poop.
