Typical afternoon

It's funny... I always post about the fun things we're doing, whether it's crafts, experiments or going somewhere fun. So instead of doing that today, I thought I'd take pictures of what a typical afternoon looks like around here...

Sassy Pants in ready for her afternoon... complete with a winter hat, scarf, one piece bathing suit and additional bathing suit bottoms. Oh, and lets not forget the band aid on her knee that is falling off... but yet, it MUST stay on because 'it makes it feel better'

We did our typical afternoon craft...

Usually I wing it with daily crafts but today we made a card and  painted some birdhouses for our friend Jaime's Birthday:

After we cleaned up the crafting mess, the kids played dress up.

Bet you can't tell who they are! :)

But as you will see, these outfits only last moments before they're on to the next thing.

I give you, 'Princess Birdie' (her words, not mine):

My sweet girl taking it all in as her big sis and brother wreck the playroom:

And my fave, Iron Man with a butterfly mask. He's special ;)

And while I made dinner, "Princess Birdie" sat on her nest (a pink cowboy hat) eating grass (the small blue pipe cleaners in front of her).

She's got a crazy imagination, this one.

And lastly, another change of clothing. This time it was her bathing suit cover up and high heels, while little bro rocked the Tangled costume. And as you can see, they're praying before their tea party (I had to sneak that picture because they tried to stop me when I tried the first time).

So there you have it... glamorous life, no?

:) :) :)

"White b', "moosey' and now...

Puppy!

(At least that's what it's called for now until my girl can name it)

(Sorry for the runny nose... she's teething and literally had just woken up)

I'm pretty happy that Meg has bonded with a 'lovie'. This was about the age when Lauren and Jake became attached to their stuffed animals, so she's right on track :)

Summer fun; backyard camping!

It's no secret that I'm am not a fan of camping. I'm much more of a hotel girl but I was willing to bear the dirt (well, grass in the backyard), the outdoor ick (bugs, eww), and the camping food to make my kiddos happy this past weekend.

So my sweet Hubster got the tent up and we all piled in. We played games, made funny faces, ate camp-y food and read stories.

And let's face it... it's faaaaaar too dangerous for a little baby to be alone in her crib inside the house overnight, so I took one for the team and reluctantly slept indoors on my nice, comfy bed :)

Hey, someone had to do it!

Volcano experiment

This was by far, the kids favorite experiment. And, it was easy and cheap :)

Place an empty baby food jar on a tray. Put a drop of red food coloring and a tablespoon of baking soda in the jar:

Surround the jar with playdough:

Form the dough to look like a mountain:

Then add some vinegar to it to make it erupt:

And then get your camera ready for the super cute expressions:

Meg is 6 months!

I can't believe our baby is six months old! When did a half a year go by?! She's so sweet, so smiley, and so happy! I love this 'sugar tush' as we call her ;)

Here's what we love about our girl at 6 months of age:
Whenever we come into her room in the morning or after naptimes, she looks up and give us this ENORMOUS grin and then giggles. Kind of melts me...

She still lights up when she sees her siblings, specifically Lauren. No one can make this girl laugh more than her big sis.

She's a mover. Lay her down in the middle of the carpet, and she manages to roll/scoot to where ever she wants to go. I don't think she's anywhere near crawling, but she manages to get around just fine.

She has begun to sign the word 'milk'. It's not the traditional way of signing that word, but she often does this same hand motion when she's hungry. It's similar to her pulling her bottle towards her mouth when daddy gives her a bedtime bottle.

She's beginning to really pay attention to the world around her. Like, she's fascinated with mirrors. And the cat... she will do anything to grab at poor Tessa.

While rice cereal is coming up next, she's a huge fan of bananas... and avocados. This girl is gonna love solid food (I'm just not ready for the 'solid food' diapers).

She's still super snuggly and will cuddle in my arms for a good half hour. And she loves to be in the crook of your neck. And if you're Justin, she loves to be with you in the Bjorn :)

She LOVES LOVES LOVES to be rough-housed and tossed around. I know that sounds bad, but the more daring the drops, dips and throws are, the more she laughs! She is gonna be my daredevil, that's for sure.

And lastly, she is still the most content, easiest baby we've had. She's cool with laying on the floor with her toys, she's cool in the Jumperoo, she's cool in the high chair with her mesh feeder... but to be honest, she's carried 99% of the time because we really can't resist her. And that's cool too ;)

Stats: Pedi appointment is next week but the scale this morning says 15.2 lbs and she measured 27 inches. And she has TWO bottom teeth :)

Sleeping: Still sleeps pretty well. Naps have become a bit more challenging, but she still sleeps through the night. Goes to bed at 7:30ish, nurses at 5am, wakes up at 7am, nap at 9ish (for an hour or two), another nap at 1ish (usually 2-3 hours), and then bedtime at 7:30.

Eating: Still nurses exclusively. Solid foods will be started next week :)

It's been such a wonderful first six months with this little girl. She is so happy, agreeable, and loving - we just can't get enough of her. I can't wait to see what the next six months holds for her as she explores her world more and more.

6 months down, a lifetime to go :)

Game night with the Greenlee's

Jaime looking away wasn't intentional or anything ;)

The kiddos made out this summer with all of the fun activities we've done and exciting trips we've been on. So it was a nice treat to have some friends over for games and dessert this past weekend for us. And look... Jaime's not holding a baby for once ;)
