Well, we did it...

I secretly laughed when I would hear of my friends getting mini-vans. Seriously, how uncool is that?!?

Well, I've found it's uncool to feel like you're crammed into your SUV like a bunch of sardines. And it's uncool to have ZERO storage space to hold change of clothes, diaper bags, strollers, etc... And it's even more uncool (read: uncomfortable) to lift all the kids into the lifted SUV and then climb in after them to buckle them all up.

So, we bit the bullet and bought ourselves a family car. As in, MINIVAN. Once we saw it, I couldn't help but want it; it has loads of space with the drop-down trunk that will hold both the double AND single stroller (if I want), the seats that fold into the floor, and the stow-n-go under the mats. Plus, the cars around us will thank us for no longer ruining their paint jobs as the kids inevitably open the car doors just a bit too wide.

Anyway, here's my new ride (pics from the private party ad)...

Okay, now stop laughing that I got a minivan already :) I love it, I really do!

The "bucket"

The Hubster has always adored cars. If they have 4 tires, a gas pedal and a steering wheel, he's in like. Add in a fancy exterior, black leather seats and a V8 engine, he's head over heels in love. And that's why he's quite smitten with this:

The Jag. He's had it for almost 2 years now. We bought it right before Lauren was born, as we didn't think his 2 door bat-outta-hell Mustang would be very baby friendly. And honestly, it was the best vehicle purchase we've ever made. It's super safe, really comfortable and the Hubster loves it, which makes me happy. (Plus, we got a good deal on it which made it do-able).

Anyways, our friend Luis came over today to borrow Justin's mistress Jag so he could detail it for an upcoming car show. "No biggie, he'll use Luis' car", I thought.... that is, until I saw Luis pull up in this stylish ride:

It's lovingly referred to as the "Bucket", as in bucket of, well, you know :) (I should mention though, that this is a third car for Luis and his wife. Unfortunately, his prized Mustang is a gas guzzler so this bad boy is the main source of transportation these days.)

However, it had the necessities (tires, gas pedal and steering wheel), so off to work he went. It was pretty funny seeing him burn out in the ol' beater. What are the chances he'll like it enough to buy it and give me the Jag???

Seatbelts and racing junkola

I hate putting my seat belt on. I hate it. I know you should because it's safest, blah blah blah, but it's annoying. When I had the Infinity and the truck, I would slack off occasionally and not buckle myself in. But with this Durango, there is an alarm that sounds within seconds if you don't buckle up. I despise this alarm because it's so obnoxiously loud. But when Justin and I had Lauren, he made me promise to wear it at all times because Lauren needed her momma. So I agreed and I have done so faithfully.

So anyways, a few days ago, we were getting into the Durango and I had started it up before putting my seat belt on. Well the stupid alarm started beeping to "remind" me to buckle up. Annoyed, I turned and asked Justin "Is there a way you can disable this dumb alarm?" to which he replied" Yeah, it's called bucking your seat belt". To say my husband is a smart a$$ would be an understatement. Good thing he bought me a Slurpee that night or he'd have been sleeping on the couch :)

I guess while we're on the subject of cars, I will share a couple photo's of the Hubster in all of his Street Stock Glory. If you've never seen Dirt track racing, you're in for a special white-trash treat because these pics are the epitome of what high class racing looks like...Ha!! And although the main course entree at the dirt track is hot dogs (with mustard if you're lucky!), and the fact that most of the drivers are named "Bubba" and the fact that most patrons there are missing a few teeth, we have a pretty good time. I just wear my best flannel shirt and clean overalls and I fit right in with all of the other Rednecks :)

Anyways, here's my #36 a few months back. Justin's quite proud of the condition his car is in...he lives by the motto "Rubbing is Racing" so having a few dents and dings on the car is supposedly a good thing. If we had to repaint the car every time the paint got messed up, we'd be broke...hence, the flat black spray paint he has goin' on :)
