Happy End of Year!

We love our teachers! They have become so important in our lives, and I've formed friendships with both of Lauren and Jake's teachers the past year, as well as continued friendships with the preschool teachers (who have taught Lauren,, Jake and Megan at some point). Both of them have allowed me to volunteer each and every day, getting the opportunity to be involved in my kiddos education in a very personal way. I can't express how much that meant to me to be included all the time :)

So I wanted to celebrate them and give them a little special something. We recently participated in a teacher appreciation week, where we brought small gifts to them every day (and a sizeable one at the end- gotta love giftcards!). Still, I just wanted them to know just how much they're appreciated and loved.

So with the help of my kiddos, we made them these:

A Summer-y wreathe!

Compliments of Lauren!

Tow cups filled with Sharpies and a gift card for the PreK teachers,

It reads, 'Mrs. Wanda/Sherry, thanks for making me such a SHARPIE this year!"

and a Tea wreathe for Mrs. Cooper because she looooves tea :)

Compliments of Jake!

And lastly, I had them fill out a sweet little teacher questionnaire. The answers were priceless and I'm hoping they were blessed by them :)

Oh, and we brought cupcakes to celebrate the end of a great year... homemade Ninjago ones to be exact :)

Love you AVCS teachers and friends <3 p="">

AVC's Spring Valley Lake day!

Every year on the last day of school, AVCS rents Spring Valley Lake for the afternoon to play the day away with friends.

We did it last year, and we did it again this year. needless to say, the kiddos had a blast in the sand and sun, while the parents sat by chatting and hanging out. What's better than that?!?

And while we're going to miss our friends from school, it's temporary. Because now, it's SUMMER time!

End of year awards ceremony

(Warning: extreme bragging alert!)

We have had an amazing school year with teachers that have not only taught and trained my children, but teachers who have became great friends! Have I mentioned how much I love our school? :)

Lauren excelled in First grade and Jacob thrived in Kindergarten. They both loved going to school, and it was the best year we've had thus far.

Days before the last day of school, I was contacted by both teachers, letting me know both kiddos were chosen for the GOAL award (Godliness, Obedience, Academic excellence and Leadership). Only 4 children were chosen from each class, and these kids were awarded for being outstanding the entire year in one of these areas).

Jake was awarded the Leadership award because as Mrs. Cooper said, he does the right thing even when it's hard to do and loves the Lord so much, which he shares with friends and shows in action:

Lauren was awarded the Godliness award, for always doing what's honoring and pleasing to God. She is an example to her classmates, and Mrs. Foster went on and on about her achievements :)

The next day, we went to Yeo's year end award ceremony and this boy cleaned house! He got a total of 13 awards(!!), ranging from leadership to academic excellence (he has over a 5.0 GPA, ranking him top 3 in his class).

Our school is small, but we have very high standards in academics and Godly character training. All that to say, earning these awards were no easy feat. They 'beat' out many classmates, and I cannot say enough how proud I am of these kids. They are intelligent, hard working and they love the Lord (well, we're still working on the hard-headed teenage one :))

Way to go Brown kids... I can't wait to see who you become in the next year. I am so proud of you three!

Jake's school skit

Jake's Kindergarten class presented a skit for chapel a few weeks ago and Jakey had a couple lines he needed to recite. Each of the children had lines that corresponded to the alphabet and verses in the bible. Jake had B for a 'baby is born", S is for 'sing! and a bunch of songs they had worked on"

The whole class did a great job presenting to the elementary chapel, but my boy did fantastic (me? biased? :))

Good job buddy boy! You did great :)

AVC Easter parties galore!

Kindergarten and First grade had another year of festive Easter parties, complete with crafts, food, friends and an Easter egg hunt! We all had a great time, as you can see in the pics below:

If the Easter party was this fun, you can imagine what the end of year parties will look like :)

School auction art

It's no secret we love our school. Sure, it's not perfect but I've never seen or heard of a school that is :)

So when we found out that AVCS is moving back to it's home city, we were super excited. And even more excited to learn that it's 3 times the size of our current location. It needs a LOT of work because it's a warehouse now, but our school is a family and we'll all be working together  'round the clock to get it finished by the beginning of the school year in August.

And because we're tying to raise funds for the build out, we participated in the AVCS annual auction. Justin auctioned off a computer repair service and I offered up my creative juices (and love of the students!) with some class art.

I got the loveable first graders and we made some body art, spelling the word LOVE:

Then I took the silly Kindergartners and made this fingerprint cross (all of the students in the class are listed below with their print):

and lastly, I took the sweet third graders and used their hands to make a giant heart on an enlarged canvas board with scripture:

Here's to hoping lots of people bid of these items because if not, I'd like them for myself :)
