Brown Family Game Night

I have a confession to make: Justin and I are so lame that 4-5 times a week we stay up (just the two of us) til 11pm, playing Sorry!, Trouble, Uno, etc. We are board game junkies. And lets not forget about hosting Monopoly nights as well... it's safe to say we are becoming those middle aged parents who relish in the quiet of sleeping kids and enjoy a good ole' board game once the youngin's head off to bed.

And because Jake has always looooved games, and Lauren is beginning to like them more and more, we had a Friday Game Night last week. The kids came home from school to find this:

The rules for the night: Must wear jammies and a smile, no poor sports, and must have a great time. It was that simple :)

They were so, so stoked! So while we waited for Justin to come home from work, I prepped our dinner and our dessert:

Chocolate fondue and all the dippings!

And once dinner and dessert were inhaled and Megan was tucked into bed, Justin, myself and the big kids played board games til it was nearly 10pm. TEN pm!

We played practically every game under the sun,

and we had a great time! The kids are already begging for our next game night :)

Dr. Seuss Family Fun Night

With it being Dr. Seuss week, I had to plan a Family Fun Night in honor of him. We read his books practically daily... Meg and Jake LOVE him and I love that they love to read partially because him.

So, we started off the night with dinner. What else... Green eggs and ham!

Then we played A Cat in the Hat game... Jake won :)

After that we did some Cat in the Hat questionnaires and crafts,

and then did lots of coloring with free Cat in the Cat printables I found online.

We ended the night with a simple dessert, some bedtime stories, and "The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That" movie.

My man and I endured the festive (bland) food and silly (embarrassing) games, but really, this was obviously for our kids. They had a fun time and really, that's all that matters on a night like this one :)

Family Fun Night; Thanksgiving!

Ahh, Thanksgiving. I LOVE Thanksgiving because it's all about being thankful, family and love. Plus, it begins the Christmas season and what's not to love about that?!?

So, for FFN this month, we made the logical choice and went with a Thanksgiving theme. But since Thanksgiving is only days away and I didn't want to be tied up in the kitchen all night, we did away with turkey, stuffing and all the traditional eats and went with our family's favorite; spaghetti!

The spaghetti was a hit as usual, and it left more time for us to be together, doing fun things. Plus, we'll be eating all that yummy-ness next week!

Anyway, we started with a fun turkey hand print craft (a separate post coming tomorrow).

Then we made Thanksgiving Mickey Mouse cookies,

and while those were baking, we made a fun gobbler craft. I had planned on doing this and possibly this, but Justin suggested making 'gobblers', and since the kids often joke about how silly they look on turkeys, we made some out of construction paper (used a hole punch, threaded some yarn and tied behind our necks). Easy peasy and the kids had fun with them ;)

Then we played 'Roll the Turkey'. I found this printable off Pinterest and we had a good time creating our own turkeys.

(Megan wasn't interested in making turkeys though... she preferred applying her makeup ;)

While we played and drew, we ate some cookies.

And before long, we were all finished. My fave is Jake's super fat turkey on steroids ;)

And finally to finish out the night, a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, snuggled up in jammies and blankets ;)

Next one... Christmas! So exciting :)))
